Cherokee Gives Back: Scrubs Donation for Single Moms with SHE IS HOPE LA

Cherokee Editorial Team October 23, 2025

Every day, women in healthcare and beyond show up—with compassion, resilience and strength that rarely gets enough credit. We believe those who care for others deserve to feel supported, too.

That’s why our latest initiative is close to our hearts: a scrubs donation to SHE IS HOPE LA, a nonprofit uplifting single mothers in Los Angeles through empowerment, community and real-world resources.

We believe purpose and compassion show up in many forms, sometimes even through something as simple as a pair of scrubs. The right fit can do more than prepare someone for a shift—it can help them move forward with confidence and hope. We recently spoke with SHE IS HOPE LA founder Tisha Janigian, whose inspiring work reminds us that when women support one another, everyone rises.

Helping Moms Move from Survival to Success

Cherokee: Can you tell us about SHE IS HOPE LA and how it supports single mothers?

Tisha Janigian: SHE IS HOPE LA (Single Moms, Housing & Empowerment, Inspiring Self-confidence through Hope, Opportunity, Perseverance & Education in Los Angeles) is a nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of instability for single mothers and their children. We provide a range of support—from food, clothing, furniture and household essentials to education, career development, peer support and housing advocacy. We also host workshops and community events designed to help moms move from survival to success, while creating a supportive network where they know they’re not alone.

Support that Transforms Lives

Cherokee: Which kinds of support have the greatest impact on the women you work with?

Tisha: The most impactful support comes from meeting immediate needs and building long-term stability. Access to food, clothing and household necessities relieves urgent stress, but education, career training and housing support create lasting change. When a mom can envision a stable future—and has the tools, resources and encouragement to get there—that’s where we see true transformation.

The Shared Strength of Mothers and Nurses

Cherokee: What have you seen in single mothers’ journeys that also reflects the strength nurses show in caregiving?

Tisha: Single mothers, much like nurses, embody resilience, compassion and selflessness. They often put their children’s needs before their own, navigating exhaustion, limited resources and emotional strain while still showing up every day to provide love and stability. Their ability to remain strong under pressure and care deeply for others mirrors the strength and dedication we see in the nursing profession."

The Power of Scrubs to Uplift

Cherokee: In what ways does a scrubs donation impact single mothers, regardless of their profession?

Tisha: A scrubs donation provides more than just clothing—it restores dignity, confidence and hope. For those entering healthcare fields, scrubs are essential to starting a new chapter in their careers. But even for mothers in other professions, receiving high-quality clothing reduces the financial burden of purchasing new items and helps them feel cared for and supported. Every donation communicates to single mothers that the community believes in them, which is profoundly uplifting.

At Cherokee, we believe everyone deserves to feel seen and supported. From women’s scrub pants to full uniform sets, our donation to SHE IS HOPE LA is part of our commitment to lifting others up—especially those working to rebuild their lives and support their families.

Because when we invest in strong women, we invest in stronger communities.
